DevOps Data Platform Engineer
Responsibilities
- Administer, support, and optimize PostgreSQL database platforms across development, test, and production environments.
- Manage cloud-native database deployments using Kubernetes, CloudNativePG (CNPG), and Helm.
- Design, implement, and support high-availability, disaster recovery, backup, and recovery solutions.
- Monitor database health, performance, and capacity to ensure reliability and scalability.
- Perform performance tuning, query optimization, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
- Support modern data architecture initiatives, including distributed databases, Data Lakehouse platforms, and Change Data Capture (CDC) solutions.
- Automate database provisioning, maintenance, monitoring, and operational workflows.
- Develop and maintain operational runbooks, support procedures, and database standards.
- Partner with Data Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps, and Development teams to support enterprise data initiatives.
- Participate in production support, incident response, and continuous improvement efforts.
Required Skills
- PostgreSQL administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Linux systems administration.
- Kubernetes operations, CloudNativePG (CNPG), and Helm deployment management.
- High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), backup, and recovery strategies.
- Database monitoring, capacity planning, and production support.
- Distributed database technologies and Data Lakehouse platforms.
- Apache Iceberg and Trino.
- Change Data Capture (CDC) technologies.
- Infrastructure automation and scripting.
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA), problem resolution, and operational documentation.
Nice to Have
- ClickHouse administration and performance optimization.
- Experience operating large-scale analytical, reporting, or data warehouse environments.
- Knowledge of modern lakehouse ecosystems and open-source data platforms.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, or OpenStack.
- Experience supporting highly available, mission-critical SaaS environments.
- Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with observability platforms such as Grafana, Prometheus, and OpenSearch.
